Italy, no-coal activists sued for 4 million of euro

South-Italy, 2nd of May
SEI, a developer of a 1320 MW coal plant in South Italy, sued three environmental activists, Giuseppe Toscano, Paolo Catanoso, and Noemi Evoli (link in Italian).
SEI claims 4 milion of euro for reputation damage.

The coal plant is planned in Saline Joniche, close to the little town of Montebello Ionico, in the Grecanic area of Calabria.
This area is renowed for a unique fruit, the bergamot orange, which flavors the Earl Grey tea.
SEI states that is planning a "clean coal plant" which will respect pollution limits, included CO2.
However, the area is highly seismic, and it's therefore unlikely that  carbon capture and storage could be ever implemented at this site.

Please, express solidariety to the activists at this FB page
